Maybe you have already tried a lot of methods on how to perfect your pitch, and you would probably say that this is not an easy task. And if you are not provided with the right methods and tools in learning this it would be very difficult for you.
Literally there are a lot of people and even hundreds of them that try to perfect pitch lessons. Does anybody really know that they are doing the right thing accurately? There are also people that make a mistake of learning the relative pitch instead of the absolute or perfect pitch. This is not bad either because relative pitch is also very useful for singers and even musicians. Relative pitch allows them to play with other musicians. But absolute pitch is a different thing. In this article i am going to discuss concepts all related to pitch.
First i am going to let you know the meaning of pitch. In music pitch is defined as to set at a particular pitch, or determine the key or keynote of (a melody). While relative pitch is defined as relating to a reference chord, key or note. This means that a particular musician with Relative Pitch has the ability to figure out a note, key or chord quickly if he or she knows something about the note, key or chord.
In addition, start finding things that produce tones of different and definite pitch. This concept is known as the Tone Referencing Instruments but you can call this concept instruments to make it short.
These are examples of the instruments that you can use:
•School bell
•Door bell
•Alarm of your wristwatch
•Ring tone of your telephone
•Car horn
•Alarm clock
•Computer’s start up tone
or anything that will make a consistent tone.
The one that will make a reference tone are the electronic devices, this is because of their consistent accuracy in tone and also due to their lack of acoustic complexity. But you must be careful because its battery flats, it can produce not true tones.
The next thing that you should do is to find out the pitches of the instruments you found. To do this, check the tones of the instruments repeatedly against your chosen pitch reference device. Here are examples of pitch reference device: piano, guitar, or a pitch pipe.
You should also check your reference tones against your pitch pipe because instruments can also change their pitch without warning. However it depends on the instrument, sometimes it could be a small change, or it depends also environmental factors. It would also be a good idea if you will check your pitch pipe against another instrument and lesser the variables the better.
Apply all the techniques i gave you and i’m sure you will learn to sing in perfect pitch faster and better. Also have a lot of practice and take extra effort in practicing
