The common method is using a password at the backdoor, which is a feature that is common amongst a few BIOS manufacturers. Resetting by means of hardware is yet another method, which is mostly used in instances where the user cannot access the machine after it has been started up. The password is stored in a small battery and in such instances where the PC is off this battery is removed from its location, which is at the top of the motherboard. When this happens, all the CMOS information pertaining to the BIOS password is erased and the user can once again input the correct CMOS information to the machine on booting up. After all, it is important to remember that these passwords are easy to reset and no hassle is required.
