Personally, I've found that marketing techniques are an awful lot like technology: as soon as you get comfortable with the newest one, something else that sounds even better gets announced.
Now, not all new strategies are bad - in fact it's a good idea to keep your eyes open and adapt to changes in the industry - but don't spend all your time chasing the newest tricks. Focus your efforts and get some results before moving on to master something new.
Think about swapping marketing strategies as though you were someone swapping diets. This week no carbs, but then you change your mind and focus on a high protein level. A month later you decide to go vegetarian for a while but then you see a new miracle smoothing on TV that you just HAVE to try...
How long do you think your body could keep that up? How effective do you really think it would be to keep jumping around between strategies that could very well be conflicting with one another? Not very.
What you would need to do would be to implement day to day lifestyle changes. Things that you could do consistently, long term in order to see any real significant results.
The exact same process unfolds with people searching for the best internet marketing strategy. You need to lay a foundation for whatever marketing you are going to do. You can't spend a week posting videos on YouTube, then get bored and throw a couple thousand dollars into a PPC campaign only to give up and decide article marketing is a better way to go - all in the course of a month - and expect to get any real results from any of them.
You may see a little bit in the way of results, but you will see huge results if you take consistent, massive action. In the end, there really isn't any one perfect strategy out there. It all depends on who you are and how you work.
We all have different needs when it comes to things like diet and exercise, because we are all unique. The same goes for marketing: unique people require unique strategies.
Here's the bottom line: find a strategy that works for you and get good at it. Implement that strategy into your business consistently and the result will pour in.
