Safe House can be a violent two hour trip thatll feed your steps fix but leave your mind on standby. But whos really about to buy a ticket to Safe House for some mental gymnastics? Odds are you observed the trailer and said, "alright, that looks like maybe its an entertaining action movie. " Well, Im here to let you know that, thankfully, the film lives approximately that expectation.
The story follows Shiny Weston (Ryan Reynolds), a house-sitter at any CIA safe house within South Africa. Westons frustrated that this position doesnt have an upward mobility and hell have a rut for the foreseeable future. But, thats about to change as a result of super fugitive Tobin Ice (Denzel Washington). Frost is a former CIA operative that journeyed rogue and began selling classified information towards the highest bidder. After years of eluding catch, Frost turns himself in which is transported to Westons protected house. Heavily armed men raid the location and Weston barely escapes with Frost. Weston just wants to obtain home safely to observe his gorgeous French significant other, but he quickly focuses on why everyone wants Ice dead and tries to get how high up this particular conspiracy goes. From there, its an interesting game of cat and computer mouse button as Frost, the experienced veteran, plays off of Weston, the vulnerable but established rookie.
This movie is information on the action. Youll be treated for you to car chases, shootouts, and a handful involving brutal hand-to-hand fights. Brutal enought that the camera shakes a tad too much and detracts from your viewing experience. I understand the must have us feel the chaos with the combat, but its nice to also understand whats going on the whole time and never feel like youre in the center of an earthquake. Thankfully, this is an issue that only comes about during a few incurs and isnt distracting enough to completely hinder the overall good quality of Safe House.
If you believe the above picture is Denzel considering, "that fool is likely to make another joke, isnt he? " then youll be content to know that isnt the truth. I was thrilled to view Reynolds performance here is not only believable, but also distanced coming from his well-known comedy jobs. Hes not light hearted in addition to hes not covering his emotions with jokes. Hes vulnerable and you are going to appreciate how hes over understanding of the chaos hes found himself within. Plus, major credit is owing for his final brawl. Absolutely brutal stuff.
Reynolds isnt the only impressive dude within the cast. Denzel demands your respect so that as he dominates the role in the cold and talented Frost. He fits the role perfectly regarding his smooth confidence and the opportunity to become intimidiating in merely a moment. Safe House has some other talented actors (Notara Farmiga, Brendan Gleeson) nevertheless their roles are tied to pretty basic stuff with CIA intelligence rooms and some other instances. Not shabby, but pales in comparison towards the impact of the a pair of leads.
