It is interesting to travel to different bodies of water. Some prefer babbling brooks, where a person casts a fishing line into the water and lets it sit all day. When one travels to a brook, it is usually to reflect on life and the future rather than activity. Other people prefer their water adventures around on lakes or oceans, sometimes surfing and other times waterskiing or trolling for large fish. Then there is the group that appreciates the water and arranges holidays around events dealing directly with the water or nearby.
Humankind built shelters near water when they found the advantages of being close. All living things thrived on nearby fresh water. Salt water yielded fish and seaweed, healthy eating for those in the area. In addition, locals dried both types of food to use when other foods was sparse. It was common for inland residents to travel to the shore and exchange other items for the dried foods.
Seeing the effect of light on the ocean sends artists to write a song or start a painting. They paint or write about their view of the mighty bodies of water that take up a great deal of the Earth's surface. Waterskiing on the bay is a fantastic ocean sport. Sunbathing is one of the most popular activities by the ocean. Building sandcastles and having barbecues at the beach are additional favorite pastimes near the water. When the waves lift high and crash against property, dragging treasure back to the sea, a writer wants the story from those affected. Later, a book of poems or a story of a travel experience involving the ocean may result from those discussions.
Boardwalks draw tourists and are an ideal place for museums. Some feature exhibits of old ships and pieces of equipment related to ocean-going vessels. Old lighthouses, now museums, emphasize steps taken to protect sailors and ships. Still others include exhibits of globes once used in nets and incredible masterpieces featuring tremendous waves tossing small ships around the water.
Some of the more peaceful things children like to do near the ocean are collect seashells and explore the tide pools. It is best to view when the sun is shining, as it helps make the nearly microscopic creatures visible. A great opportunity for learning about ocean life, tide pools are excellent sources of knowledge. When it is too dreary to be on the beach, visit a museum for further information about the ocean. We are most unfamiliar with ocean life and seeing real or simulated creatures is quite intriguing.
Wrap a short cruise into a whale watching tour. People who travel to see the whales migrate sometimes have the opportunity to see the playful dolphins and intriguing whales in the same area. What a great adventure to cruise and see both whales and dolphins frolic. One of the most impressive sights on Earth is watching masters of the sea, like the whale, rise out of the water into the air and return. Adventure and education at or near the waters of the Earth continue to inspire travel and excitement around the world.
