I went to the dentist the other day. I wish I could say that I enjoyed the trip, but my dental care experience was nothing if not aggravating. Now, I know what you're thinking: I didn't like my dental health visit because I don't like my dentist. Well you couldn't be further from the truth! In fact, sitting in that dental chair for the few precious minutes I had the chance was the best part of the day!

It all started the morning of my dental appointment with my dentist. I know the importance of oral care, so I wasn't too worried about my dentist finding any cavities. I woke up and commenced my normal practice of brushing my teeth. I even flossed that morning, even though I usually floss at night. I wanted my teeth to be extra clean for my dentist. Did I mention that my dentist is single, and not too old?

So as the morning went on, I completed my normal routine: I showered, put on some make up and a clean outfit, and I began my trek to the dentist. The office for my dentist in Orem was only a few blocks away from my apartment, so I decided to walk. Before long, as luck would have it, it started to rain. That's the thing about the local weather around here. You never know when the weather will change in this city. I was still about 4 blocks from my dentist and my hair was already starting to turn into a frizzy mess. At least my oral cavity was clean as a whistle. My dentist is bound to be impressed by my excellent oral care practice.

I kept walking, and it kept raining. The puddles started to rise. In this city, the rain washes all the dirt off of the sidewalk and makes all of the puddles turn a healthy color of brown. I was walking past a rather large puddle when a city bus drove by. It hit the puddle full force and splashed it all over me. It was terrible. Now, not only was my hair a frizz ball, my outfit was drenched and dirty. What will my dentist think of me? I know he probably wouldn't care, but I can't help feel embarrassed.

I continued on my way to my to the dentist. The dental office was only a block and a half away. Along the sidewalk, heading the opposite direction, was a health hazard in and of itself. This was in the form of a giant, terrifying dog. It should be illegal to keep such monsters in the city! I pretended not to care. I pretended that this grotesque thing wasn't going to affect my stroll to my dentist. It did have an owner to care for it at least. I still don't know what possessed this owner to take this monster out without a leash! Anyway, as soon as we passed each other, the beast let out a snarl like I have never heard before. I suddenly felt like I had to get to my dentist now. My Orem dentist just did not seem close enough. I ran.
