Okay you may want to buy a rocking horse but think that traditional rocking horses are way too expensive. Spring rocking horses are a cheaper alternative, but although your kids will have fun on them, they don't always look the part. Another option you may want to consider is a plush rocking horse. All children love their plush toys and to have one specially designed for sitting on is a dream come true for young children.
Plush toys can look so real that children can play all kinds of adventures with them, but if a child sits on a standard plush toy and tries to ride it, it can damage it. A plush rocking horse is very sturdy and usually sits on rockers made from wood, but sometimes they are metal or plastic. They also vary in size, quality and price but can cost anything from $50 to several hundred dollars. There are so many different styles you can buy, and you might be surprised that they aren't all horses!
As with any toy, if you are getting a plush rocking horse you must get the right kind for your child. There are some made especially for toddlers, these have more supportive seats and some can even be used by older babies from around 9 months. These are often not actually a plush rocking horse but a plush rocking animal. Teddies, dogs, frogs, snails, cows and more can be found. Some of them make sounds too which adds to the play value for the younger children. If your child is older then there are a lot of larger rocking animals such as different breeds of dog, as well as a plush rocking horse which you can get in many toy stores.
If you or your child are determined to get a plush rocking horse and not a dog or giraffe or whatever, then there are still a variety of types to choose from. Some are very realistic and others are more of a decorative design, such as a princess pink plush rocking horse. It depends if your child is one who likes riding around on a pony pretending to be a magical princess, or whether they want to be out chasing cattle! You can also buy one which is posed as though it is jumping, perfect for the budding show-jumper in your family.
Caring for your plush rocking horse depends on the material used. Some use real lambs wool which you can only sponge lightly. Others can be sponged with a light detergent or fabric cleaner, but make sure you use a child-safe product. Non fabric parts of the toy can be wiped with a damp cloth. You can also get anti bacterial spray which is suitable for fabrics. This might be useful for cleaning purposes.
A plush rocking horse is a lot cheaper than a real pony but your child will love it just as much. He or she will probably tell it secrets, have adventures on it, and start using it in stories. If you buy a rocking horse for your child, you are opening up a world of adventure.
