In terms of health-related problems, time is an important factor. What we mean is it takes a good deal of time for the serious symptoms to begin surfacing. Still, childhood obesity definitely sets the stage for problems later on. Still, a childs youth can keep them from suffering from the sorts of medical problems that plague obese adults. Yet the condition itself is still thought as a risk factor for complications and conditions later on in life. Some of the most severe problems are diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, liver disease, heart disease and stroke.
Hypertension and high blood pressure are all but synonymous with obesity no matter what your age may be. There are some major medical conditions that dont get seen during childhood obesity and others that are likely to appear. High blood pressure is one of the problems that is often seen in kids who are severely overweight or suffer from obesity. Obviously there is physical stress that gets put on the body when a person has excess weight but there is significant psychological stress as well. Physical and verbal abuse from classmates and peers is the norm for children who are obese. That abuse adds up into a chronically highly stressful life for the child which, in turn, feeds into high blood pressure. Obesity also causes specific gender related problems especially in young girls who are going through puberty (or have gotten past it). Women and girls who are obese are, for example, prone to problems with their menstrual cycles. This issue is caused by the interference of the female bodys ability to produce normal hormones. This, in turn, causes a myriad of problems with the menstrual cycle. Obesity contributes to these problems for women. If the interference in the hormones is big, it is even possible for women to become sterile if they are obese. Think about it: if there is a disruption in the hormones, what kind of impact can this have on the other female processes that are reliant upon hormones? The human body needs its hormones to be normal in order to keep the metabolism function healthy.
The socialization and individuality and personality development process speeds up during the teen years. Along with those processes are the development of the teens body image which is known to be critical at that stage. Developing normally in these areas is particularly hard for teens who are obese. What happens then is that the obese teen leaves high school at distinct disadvantages. They will have a harder time competing and reaching normal levels of success.
It is very important for kids who are suffering from obesity to find a trusted and qualified adult to talk to about their weight conditions. You need to be informed about what makes your condition happened. Thankfully, there is something real that you can do about it; after all, youre never too late to try to get back to good health.
