The city of Steamboat Springs, Colorado is a beautiful ski town located in the upper valley of the Yampa River right along U.S. Highway 40. The town lays a bit west of the Continental Divide near Rabbit Ears Pass and is extremely popular with local skiers, winter sport enthusiasts, and tourists. Steamboat Springs Resort sits on Mount Werner and is the main attraction during the winter months. There is also the much smaller Howelsen Ski Area which usually sees more locals, as it is not as well known. Although many of these people will travel to Steamboat for a weekend or a week, there are over 12,088 residents living within and around Routt County.
Steamboat Springs is not only a beautiful place during its prime tourist season but it is also just as picturesque during the spring, summer, and fall as well. There are a wide range of activities that one can participate in no matter what time of year it is. Some of which include things like, hiking, biking, fishing, golfing, camping, off-roading, concerts, festivals, events, shopping, and dining. Many of residents who live in the Steamboat Springs Area are there for leisure or to work. Many young people find themselves in the ski resorts as part of their education, as they offer popular internship programs for a variety of different degrees. Also, there is a large portion of high-income families who find the peace and tranquility in the mountains.
Because of the diverse demographic in the area, the community offers both luxury living as well as more affordable living options. The average single family home is listed for around $800,000 while most condos and townhomes are sold for around the $300,000. The city also has wonderful school district which operates two elementary, one middle, and one high school within Steamboat Springs. There are also a few private and charter schools in the area as well.
The neighborhoods in Steamboat offer a variety of amenities and of course gorgeous views of the Rocky Mountains all around you. What you get will depend on if you choose a resort neighborhood, private neighborhood or a gated community. The benefit to living on the resort is the easy access to the ski mountain. These properties make great investment opportunities and can be marketed to an array of tenants. Private communities in Steamboat Springs tend to be where the locals live and offer a much more quiet style of living. Additionally, the gated communities in this area are not only private but most are extremely luxurious.
