Dentists, dentists, dentists... what is your initial reaction when you hear the word 'Dentist'? Most people cringe at the practice of oral care. Even though going to the local dentist every 6 months is recommended, most people only go to the local dentist every few years.

My dad always told us growing up how great his oral health was because he didn't have any cavities and he hadn't been to any of the local dentists in 15 years. Now that is bad practice of oral dental health if you ask me. We have dentists for a reason. They practice oral health care to keep our overall health good. If you get gum disease it can cause other health issues besides dental health problems. Let's all practice better oral health care do our dentists will be happy!

I hadn't been to the local dentist in probably 3 years and I got pregnant. I read that your oral health can change and your teeth can get soft since all the nutrients and calcium are going to the baby. I decided I better go to a dentist. I looked at local dentists and their dentistry practices and finally decided on a different dentist than the local dentist I had seen since I was little. I personally get nervous going to the local dentist but they said I had pretty good oral health for not being to the dentist in that long. I didn't have any cavities but I just don't particularly like them scraping my teeth and having my mouth open that long. I must practice good oral health care. I went to the dentist over 3 years ago, guess what I haven't been back, should I go back to the same local dentist or find a new local dentist?

My little boy is 2 now and I think it's about time to take him to the local dentist for the first time. I'm a little worried how he'll react. I know some dentists do sedation dentistry, but than how good is that for your health to be sedated just to be in the dentists chair? I want him to have good oral care and be in good health so I need to find a pediatric dentist for him as well. My husband on the other hand hasn't been to the dentist for several years either. I'm not sure how good his oral health and care is.

My sister in law works for a dentist and really likes it. I don't know how she looks in people's mouths everyday. Some people do not practice good oral health care at all. How do dentists do it all day? They go to dental school for many years to practice dentistry in their favorite city, or actually any city that is hiring dentists. I have heard that there are too many dentists out there that it is hard to get a dental practice. But a local dentistry practice may be for sale that they can buy and care for.
