Have separate shoes for indoor and outdoor use. If you do a lot of work in your garden or simply enjoy being outdoors, have a pair of shoes set aside specifically for these activities. When it is time to come inside, your shoes, along with the pollen and dust they carry, can be left at the door - minimizing the allergens that make it into your home.

Clean your home from top to bottom at least once per year, preferably in the spring. A deep cleaning can eliminate dust, dander, mold and other allergens. If this type of cleaning is too daunting, hire a service to complete the job for you. You can maintain the results yourself or schedule regular visits from the cleaning service, after the initial deep-clean.

Avoid the allergens that trigger reactions. That may seem obvious, but a lot of people think they can just "tough it out". The truth is, the more you exposure yourself to allergens, the weaker your immune system becomes. Make a conscious effort to avoid things that you know you are allergic to.

Designate one room in your house to be allergen free. Keep pets out of that room, remove carpet, and refuse any items that have been outside. That can be an enormous help to you if you regularly suffer from allergy attacks. One room that is clean and easy to breathe in, can help you better handle the rest of your house!

You need to be aware of the pollen count outdoors if you suffer from seasonal allergies. Oftentimes, the local newspaper will have this information, or you can look online for the daily mold levels and pollen count. If either is too high, you need to plan on being indoors on those days.

If you have allergies, do not leave the windows open, no matter where you are this. Whether at home, or in the car, keep the windows shut, and put the air conditioner on. Leaving the windows open allows allergy triggers to come in. Which of course, will bother your allergies.

If you must exercise or work outdoors when pollen counts are high, take a shower as soon as you come indoors. Throw your clothing into the washing machine immediately, and make sure that you wash your hair and skin thoroughly, in order to remove any pollen that you may have tracked in.

As previously noted, allergies can really keep you from doing the things, you love in life, and even things that simply need to get done. After having read this article, you should have some new and useful ideas on how to cope with and overcome allergies. Hopefully, you can now get down to the business of living, with less suffering and symptoms.
