Looking for a Utah hospice facility? Or are you wondering about this word "hospice" since it kind of sounds like hospital but it's different. Well, hospice care is different from hospital care, even though both refer to medical facilities. Hopsice is a facility that provides care options for the terminally ill.

Unlike a hospital, where patients spend time to have their health improved, hospice care recognizes that there is a time in some patients life where the physical symptoms indicate that these patients bodies will not be able to maintain life much longer. Hospice is dedicated to a philosophy that honors a patients desire not to take extraordinary measure to prolong their life. Rather than putting themselves and their families through the physical and emotional pain of extending a life that cannot return to normal, these patients choose the palliative care of hospice.

The nurses and doctors on a hospice staff take care of their patients just as well as any hospital, but with the goal of easing their pain rather than restoring their health. These patients and their families have acknowledged the fact that physical life ends for everyone, and are willing to face the end of life directly. Palliative care is administered in order to keep patients as comfortable as possible through the end of their life, but medical options are limited to palliative care.

Families that have questions about hospice care are welcome to call any hospice organization and ask questions of the staff. Other options for hospice information can be found at the Hospice Foundation of America, a nationwide organization helping families to understand the options and philospophy that hospice provides to both patients and families. Whether you call the Hospice Foundation or visit their web site, you can receive all the information available for patients and families who are considering the use of a hospice.

In addition, the Hospice Foundation organization also provides funding for families who cannot afford hospice care on their own. So if you are one of those families considering hospice care but don't feel you can afford it, the Hospice Foundation may be able to help you out. Or if you are one of those families who have benefited from hospice care and wish to help other families in need, hospice Foundation will gladly accept donations in order to provide assistance for those families.

The end of life period is certainly a difficult one for patients and families. But we all must face this period at some point, and it's good to know that there is an organization dedicated to helping families at this time of their life. Whether you contact a local hospice, or a local hospice foundation, or the national Hospice Foundation of America, there are many sources of hospice information available to families. You can search online for their web sites or make a phone call and get your questions answered by the staff directly. Everyone in the hospice organization as a whole is very friendly and willing to help families.
