We've been all accountable with the! It really is just Very easy to snack on potato chips and Ben & Jerry's. When we are on the path of a healthy lifestyle however, this isn't ideal! So what can we do if we love to snack and crave those greasy foods that pack on our midsection? Presented here are healthy snack ideas!
Safe Foods - Healthy Snack Ideas
Your food to the day should consist of 5 meals! You'll want to have breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, and then dinner. Keep your healthy snack ideas around 100 calories. In order to do this, there are a few great foods that you can't go wrong with!
Apples 1/2
Cantaloupe (medium)
Celery (burns calories just on the digesting process!)
Whole wheat pita (1/2 of 4?)
Whole grain Toast 1/2
Carrot
Kiwi
Edamame
Hard Boiled egg
25 Grapes
Small baked sweet potato
1/2 cup of Cherries
Raw nut assortment (unsalted)
Those are just a few healthy snack ideas, but you can also make them a bit more fun..
Sprucing up your healthy snack ideas
No one wants to eat celery sticks and almonds everyday! We snack because we get bored, let's not make healthy snacking all the more boring! If you're just incorporating healthy snack ideas into your diet, you MUST learn how to get interesting with them! :)
You can start by thinking using the above ideas as the foundation for your fun. There are many healthy toppings and dips that can push you toward being addicted to seeking those healthy snack ideas.
Some of my favorites are:
2 tbsp Honey
1/2 cup Salsa
Avocado (fresh guacamole!)
Low-fat cream cheese (Just enough for a thin layer)
Hummus (I know you love it, but limit to 1 tbsp please!)
The above you can use for healthy dips. I know personally my weakness is tortilla chips with cheesy queso. Simply, this is just NOT a good life decision! An alternative? Try a few corn chips with some fresh homemade salsa. Salsa is an extremely quick side to make in a healthy way. I also love melba toast and hummus. Whole grain crackers and pesto is another fave healthy snack idea!
Healthy Snack Ideas - More additives!
If you're still not satisfied while using ideas above, of course you can add more to your snacks to make them yummy! Even with all the extras, your snacks will still be low in calories and that's what we want!
Bananas
Cheese - low fat
Egg Whites
Pear
Salmon 1 oz (smoked)
Tuna 1 oz
Tofu
Raisins - 20
Cucumber 1/2
Raspberries (30)
Lately all of my healthy snack ideas have involved tuna. I'm obsessed, because I'm a pescatarian and struggle eating certain veggies (work in progress). Bananas and cheese are super quick additives to most snacks. I also am a fan of egg whites! They are packed FULL of protein. Egg whites are definitely over the top of my list of healthy snack ideas!
Eating healthy doesn't have to get a bore, just go for it :)
