At this point you may have already started contacting your warm market and more importantly your cold market and discovered that there's a huge amount of disbelief and skepticism out there. It should come as no surprise really given the times we live in. People are so afraid to be taken, to be duped, or fall for some scam. I mean given the banking meltdown, investment fraud, and ponzi scams in recent years- can you blame them?
It's really a result of FEAR. Most people have been so beat down by life that they're afraid to try anything new or live outside the comfortable confines of their J.O.B.- even if that life isn't very rewarding. It's a situation where people are afraid to trust anyone offering a new wealth strategy or system.
What's really going on is that people believe you, their instincts tell them that they should vet your opportunity and join, but at their core they don't believe in themselves. Most people walk around all day with self-limiting beliefs and whether they have the desire to create a better life or not, they walk around telling themselves that they don't deserve good things; they don't have the necessary skills; they don't have the necessary resources; they don't have the ability to duplicate the type of success you're offering.
So here's the correlation between belief and successful sponsoring: your success hinges on your ability to find prospects who already believe. You will most certainly find a fair number of interested tire kickers. But, your success depends on your ability to sort through prospects with self-limiting beliefs and focus on those who truly believe in themselves and can actually benefit from a Step-by-Step Blueprint.
If you give a Step-by-Step Blueprint to someone with self-limiting beliefs, a person who walks around all day convincing themselves they "can't do it," they'll be stuck at the first step indefinitely. They'll never TAKE ACTION!
It's not about refining your script to say the "right thing." You'll never say the right thing to the perpetual tire kickers to get them un-stuck.
So during the interview process, during your first real call where your prospect commits to giving you their undivided attention, look for a few time tested success qualities:
Work Ethic: look for someone who's already stuck with it; perhaps they've already built a successful small business; perhaps they've managed to graduate from a tech school, college or have a professional certification.
Leadership: look for someone who's already been a leader; perhaps they've played sports; perhaps they've already been at the top of a hierarchy- fortune 500, professional organization, military, etc.
Past Failures: look for someone who's tried and failed; perhaps they've tried to build a business in the past; perhaps they've seen adversity in their life and experienced rock bottom. The key here is that they continue to search for a better way- even if it means they may fail again.
Free Thinkers: look for someone who isn't afraid to leave the beaten path; perhaps they're a member of an outspoken cause, service organization, or charity.
It's not always disbelief and skepticism in your opportunity but rather in themselves that keeps prospects from jumping headfirst into building their business.
But, trust me- the believers are out there.
