Westminster — December 7th, 2009 — The Dojo of Karate is one of Westminster’s newest thriving businesses that teaches Traditional Karate, Modern Self Defense, and Fitness Classes to the community of Broomfield, Westminster, and Thornton.
In September, 2009 school owner and master instructor, Javier Lozano Jr decided to join the Broomfield Chamber of Commerce as a way to help continue to grow his business and network with other prospering small business owners in the community.
When I first opened in August 2008, I was still working a full time job and running my school in the evenings, so networking was out of the picture. said Lozano. But, things changed this past September that allowed me to go full time with my Dojo, therefore it made sense for me to join the Broomfield Chamber .
By joining the Broomfield Chamber, The Dojo has been able to attend a few chamber events and participate in Broomfield’s largest community event — Broomfield Days.
In addition to the numerous formats of networking events and unique marketing ideas the Broomfield Chamber offers, The Dojo of Karate was allowed to have their 1st Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on December 3rd, 2009.
Keep in mind that The Dojo had already been operating for 16 months and never had an official Ribbon Cutting, rather a grand opening event. This gave Sensei Lozano an opportunity to take advantage of the chamber’s way of promoting and public relations with the community and putting The Dojo on the map in Broomfield.
During the ribbon cutting event, many chamber members and ambassadors attended this special day, to help support local businesses and create a sense of community.
It was great to see how active the Broomfield Chamber really is with their community and local businesses stated Lozano. Its a pleasure to see this, especially in this economy. Every little bit helps, and by spreading the word about my Martial Arts school and taking advantage of the free services, I m able to grow my business and educate myself.
All new or established businesses part of the chamber are allowed to have one Ribbon Cutting event to help promote their business to the public. This is also a great way to network and get to know other chamber members.

The Dojo of Karate teaches kids and adult about self confidence, discipline, respect, and helps students improve their grades in school by focusing their mind and body. More importantly, we teach Life Skills to kids, essentially reinforcing what is taught at home by parents.
They also teach fitness classes to help you lose weight, get in shape, and tone muscles through their Fighting Fit2 Boot Camp and Fitness Kickboxing.
