Furniture makes home sweet home. Furniture carefully bought, nicely placed and well taken care of makes a comfortable home and a gives comfortable aura to the family. It does not really matter if you get the most expensive piece of furniture in the market. What really matters is the proper care and maintenance of that furniture. Unclean and worn out furniture makes the home look old and uncomfortable as well. But the most important task while buying furniture is to find the kind of furniture that will be easy for you to maintain. Don t fall for the advertisements that sell modern but hard to maintain furniture.

The maintenance of the articles in your room depends upon the material of the furniture. It means if you have leather, there are slightly different ways to take care of it. While if you have wood or glass, you will have to use different ways to take care of them. But the main essentials are the same.

The cleaner the material is kept, the longer will it last and will not look aged. It is a good thing to do dusting of the things every day. Occasionally varnishing or polishing it will also helping in maintaining its look.

If you more articles made of leather, it is good idea to keep them away from direct heat or sunlight. It fades away if exposed to direct sunlight. This is however, not the case with wood or glass. Similarly, excessive dust and smoke settles more quickly into leather than other materials.

Leather started giving an aged look if you do not clean and avoid placing it in areas where there is dust or smoke. Although dust and smoke is harmful for wood and glass too but they are easy to clean than leather. If you spill coffee, tea or any drink or if leather stains, clean it immediately. Do not leave it over night or even more than a few hours. Otherwise, the stain will never come of the leather. And if you try to rub the areas with stain a lot, the leather color fades away.

Wood and glass are relatively easy to clean than leather and if the stain stays for a long time, it is easier to clean it anyway. With wood, since it is already expensive, the maintenance equipment that comes with it is not that costly. Occasional varnish after every few months will keep the wood shinning and new. Also, after several years wood starts giving an antique look, which also looks nice.

Glass is fragile and easy to break but it is the most easy to maintain unless something scratches on the glass surface. Scratches can never be removed from the glass surface. It is better to have articles with glass in rooms that are not used often like the drawing room, which is used for guest only purposes.

Finally, be sure to get the furniture worth for your money. You would also like to keep in mind that it should be easy to clean and maintain for you. With a little care and maintenance, even old furniture can look good. Be sure to buy material that suits your needs, look modern and gives a spacious and a cozy look to the house.
