Continue until you cover the whole back of the head. With the back of the head checked, start checking the front areas. Repeat the checking process on the front.
If lice or nits are present, treat the problem as soon as possible. First, thoroughly clean bedroom fabrics such as bedding and bedsheets and items of clothing to eliminate the infestation from areas you frequently occupy. After removing stray lice from your clothes and bedding, rely on a regimen of anti-lice measures, such as using anti-lice products. In some cases, the infestation may may call for different kinds of treatment options, to be eliminated completely. Another thing to note is that, if one family member has a lice problem, you should check everyone as lice are known to thrive in group settings.
