Death is an inescapable reality that all of us have to face but organizing the funeral of a loved one can still be very disturbing. However, you have to admit the loss that you have suffered and be prepared for making appropriate funeral service arrangements for the deceased. Most funeral homes will guide you in this matter and help you make all the arrangements but it is better to know a few things in advance.

The deceased person's life and beliefs are expressed in the funeral and hence, it is essential to conduct it properly. A majority of funeral services follow a particular pattern, though the pattern can change to accommodate any cultural inclinations that the deceased may have had or his family believes in.

The first phase is the visitation, which can happen for a few hours or could extend for a few days. Here, the dead person is remembered by his family and friends. Then begin the formal funeral proceedings, which can be held in a chapel, a mortuary, a church or any other venue that can act as a proper memorial for the deceased person. A hearse or funeral coach will have to be arranged if the funeral is to be arranged in an outdoor venue.

After this service, the mourners generally move to the cemetery to participate in the graveside service. This can be managed by a clergyman or any close relative of the deceased, depending on the family's choice. Certain matters need to be focused on at this stage including the person who will lead the service, if some favourite items of the deceased will be exhibited, and the type of flowers to be used.

The final part of the service is the burial of the body at a site, which is generally based on the kind of burial tradition that the family has. The burial site can be anything from a chosen tract on family land to a graveyard, or the corpse can even be cremated if the deceased wished so.
