I think that it's a common misconception that you have to be wealthy or have a Master's degree to appreciate or even think much about interior design. Maybe you look at magazines or think of all the complexities of interior design that experts talk about. You fear that your tastes or your thoughts on interior design might be laughed at by anyone who supposedly knows something about interior design.
The truth is that interior design at its core is all about creating pleasant surroundings in a home or space. It's all about what is pleasing to the people who occupy that space and has nothing to do with what anyone else thinks or feels about what you have created. So, without even knowing it, you are already an interior designer!
For instance, when my wife and I were first married we didn't have two pennies to rub together. We were often behind on the rent and getting a pizza that didn't come frozen was a big treat for us. Yet, my wife has a talent. She is very good at arranging furniture in the house and taking the most mundane things and creating beauty. Perhaps you have this same talent. Maybe you have the same gift of throwing a few household items together and making it into something that is extraoridinary.
My wife would take two dollars worth of Christmas lights, some pine branches that she found laying in the yard and create something that looked like it came out of a magazine. She would take old milk crates throw an old blanket over them, light a few candles and place a couple of pictures on the whole thing and you would have thought that Martha Stewart had stopped by.
You see, it doesn't have to cost a lot of money to create beauty in your home. All it takes is inspiration and a desire to make your home more cozy and pleasant. Yes, women do have a bit more talent in this area than men but we appreciate what you ladies do with the meager resources that we give you.
Of course, the more money you have to spend on interior design, the more options you have. With a little extra cash and some time spent in a thrift store or doing a little bargain hunting, you might be surprised with what you can create. In the end though, your only limits when it comes to the interior design of your home is your imagination and creativity.
