If you want to get a video to rank at the highest rank of Google, where it is going to get traffic, you need to get links coming in to that video.
A link otherwise known as a backlink, is when another website links to you. A tiny clickable link that links to your video. The more of these links you have coming in to your video from other places, the higher up your Google rankings your video will go.
So you need to go out and create these links. If you do that, your video will rank high in Google. Simple concept. You need backlinks. That's the first thing you need to know.
Anchor Text
So how do you get these links coming in to your video?
First we need to point out the significance of anchor text or keywords. These are words or terms that Google reads to make a decision on what to rank your video for. So you need to utilize the proper anchor text or keywords when doing it.
You can get away with not having to vary up your anchor texts or keywords when it comes to YouTube video. When it is a website, you really need variation of your anchor text or keywords.
Because YouTube is such an authority website, and you are riding on at the back of that authority, so you can get away with having little to no variation in your anchor text or keywords.
Variety
When you are doing a webpage, you need a variety of different types of links coming in. You need links coming from articles, from directories, from blogs, from forums, etc. The more variety you have, the better.
The same standard applies for video. You cannot get a thousand links from one website. That's not going to help you. You need variety - what is called IP diversity, which means links on websites from a range of different IP addresses. With video, you also need to have that diversity. You cannot just get it from one place.
But then again with video you can still have one type of link, for example a thousand social bookmark links, and it will still work. Whereas if you do that with a webpage, it wouldn't work as well. Social bookmarks work well when it comes to YouTube videos.
Speed
When you're building links to a new website, you have to be cautious how fast you increase these links, and also how many links you build.
If you are getting like a thousand links coming in to a very new domain, at a very quick pace, it will look fishy, especially if you don't vary up the anchor text or keywords, it will look really fishy to Google.
But with video, different rules apply. You can increase links as fast as you want to your YouTube video. You can build thousands of links in a day to your YouTube video, and it will be fine. It will line up fine.
So you can get away with building links a lot faster, and you don't have to be as regular either, sort of contrary from what you do on a webpage.
With a webpage, you have to be a lot more careful, with YouTube video you don't. But you still need to utilize established principles of SEO.
Views
The other thing to get your high ranking with videos, is the amount of views that you get coming on your video. Getting more people to look at your video. Views count.
So when you combine that views that you're getting with backlinks, that's going to help you get your YouTube video ranking at the top of Google! Not ranking them at the highest rank of YouTube, although you will find out also that in most cases it will line up at the highest rank of YouTube, when you start getting the views.
So it's combination of backlinks and combination of views and you can get away with a lot more when it is SEO on a video.
