Sunset Hill Stoneware started as an idea two college students had in 1998. Today, the company is jointly owned by father and son team, Duane and Tom Dunsirn. Located on the rolling hills of Wisconsin in Neenah, all the products of Sunset Hill Stoneware or SHS are made in the United States of America. Making all types of stoneware mugs like customized beer steins and soup and coffee mugs, the company uses traditional techniques and today's technology to bring the very best quality products for the home, kitchen and desk.
Creating Customized Pottery
Customers can choose the style of stoneware. As far as mugs, the company has over 30 different mug styles like those for eating chili or mugs for morning hot drinks. Next, buyers can select art from the SHS collection. Each art work piece is done by artists local to the company's headquarters in Wisconsin. The subjects range from nature to events and more.
However, if customers want to add a specific piece of art as well as business logos, they can make arrangements with SHS. The company team will send a proof for customer approval before creating the customized stoneware. The art is attached to the handcrafted mugs or other products on attractive 3D medallions.
Choosing the color, customers can select two-toned and single-toned color combinations. SHS offers a lovely variety of colors. Customers choose colors according to preference and/or business theme and logo colors.

The kilns are in a "Fire House" that reclaims all the generated heat using a heating, ventilating and air conditioned system particularly engineered for the purpose of energy conservation.
Additionally, all the stoneware products are made with non-toxic materials. All glazes and the clay are completely lead-free. SHS is a leader in the art community with its efforts at production efficiency and environmental conservation.

Sunset Hill Stoneware makes particularly unique styles of products. Besides the more than 30 different types of mugs, the company makes customized beer steins, bowls, crocks and dinnerware. Pitchers and accessory products like vases and candle holders are also created at SHS. The team is constantly coming up with new designs, and they are very happy for customer suggestions on new types of stoneware items.
As far as the stoneware's durability goes, all pieces are made to last for years of continual normal use. Under normal conditions, the pieces are dishwasher safe. The stoneware is also safe for all customary microwave settings and oven temperatures.
Craftsmanship and Quality
Each of the stoneware mugs and other stoneware products by SHS is unique because it is handcrafted, hand thrown on an actual potter's wheel. Only the finest clay and top quality glazes are used. Because each piece is one-of-a-kind, each one will have slight variations in coloration from others in a set of handcrafted stoneware, and all of the Sunset Hill Stoneware products are proudly made in Wisconsin of the United States.
