Making yourself an excellent piano player starts from correct practice. Indeed, practice makes perfect but you have to consider that you are also practicing the correct way. If you want to learn how to play the piano, you have to start with the correct way to practice.

Here are some ideas and practice tips that will make you learn how to play the piano fast and accurately.

Understand that stretching exercises can help a lot in starting to learn the piano correctly. Make it a routine to do stretching exercises with your fingers, your arms and your shoulders before your practice session. This will relieve tension in those parts of your body and, most importantly, this will help you maintain the proper position of your hands in pressing the keys of the instrument. One common mistake in piano playing is reaching out the keys with your finger which is often the first thing you would usually do when you start learning the scales. Use your arms to guide your hands in the keys.

Practice slowly. For you to learn how to play the piano accurately, you have to practice slowly at first. This will allow you to learn each note correctly. You can later play at its exact tempo when you eventually learn the notes accurately.

Practice one thing at a time. If you are truly a beginner in piano playing, you will most likely be overwhelmed with the coordination of your right and left hand as well as your feet on the pedal. You don t have to rush and practice them altogether. One good approach in learning fast is to practice one thing at a time. Practice your right hand first, and once you mastered with your right, you can then start with your left hand. You can learn the foot pedal later when you get to master coordination.

Learn the hard parts of a piece first. Sometimes it can be discouraging to see difficult part of a piece and, at times, you may be tempted to skip learning the entire piece. One thing to help you overcome this is to learn the hard part first before learning the entire piece. Practice it in smaller portions and practice it over and over until you get it correctly and then you can start playing the whole piece.

Practice everyday and have fun. You don t have to be so stressed out to learn how to play the piano. Yes, you have to practice everyday and make it a part of your daily routine but you don t have to take away the fun part of learning the instrument. Of course, one motivation in learning the instrument is making the learning process fun. You can learn an easy familiar song to make your learning fun and motivational.

You can learn the piano by yourself or you can get a good piano teacher to help you throughout the course. You can also get good instructional materials using videos but you have to stick with one program to make your learning systematic and efficient.
