There are numerous reasons someone may hope to learn Spanish. Possibly you are planning a holiday or business trip to a Spanish speaking country or maybe you are considering emigrating. It could possibly be that you don't truly have to talk Spanish at all but you just wish to say that you can. Having the ability to connect in another language certainly offers you an excellent sense of accomplishment.
My reasons were a little blended. For a long time I had actually hoped to discover another language, and for some reason I was always drawn to Spanish. I am not totally sure why this was. Due to the fact that the little I knew about Spain at the time in some way appealed to my sense of good living, I think one reason was. Sun, sand, siestas, late night supper parties and dark skinned beautiful women! Of course there is much more to Spain than this, however for me, Spain and the Spanish language held more appeal than say German or french did.
Although I had actually wanted to find out Spanish for a long period of time I guess the primary reason I lastly chose to do something about it was because I was preparing a long journey to Central and South America. I will travel through as lots of as 19 various nations where the official national language was Spanish. Well that was a back in 2002. Because then Spanish and all things Spanish both in Spain and in Latin America have actually literally taken me over. I wouldn't have actually thought it then however now Spanish is a part of my every day life. I can talk, read and understand Spanish to the point where I do not need to think about it too much.
If I can talk Spanish fluently I am constantly a little hesitant to say yes, when people ask me. The truth is that despite the fact that I can interact in Spanish with relative simplicity I still don't feel that I know enough. I am not really sure if I ever will! There are constantly new words and expressions to find out for instance and of course these vary from country to nation.
I think among the biggest tests for me is being able to sit in front of the TV with una cerveza (a beer) and view a Spanish daytime soap (una telenovela) or a Spanish flick and totally understand everything that is going on. After all, if I can do that in English why should not I be able to do the same in Spanish? Well I have to say I am absolutely not there yet however almost! I highly advise 'Pasion de Gavilanes'. It's an extremely popular telenovela from Columbia. I'll speak more that this and others in later short articles.
So, how did I receive from not understanding a single word of Spanish (apart from - gracias and amigo), to being able to read a Spanish book, contact a Spanish-speaking friend or watch a Spanish telenovel? Well the answer to that is exactly what I intend to write about in the coming articles. I am not going to lie to you and say that the trip was a simple one. The reality is that finding out a brand-new language takes some time and requires an excellent deal of perseverance and dedication. Nevertheless, what I really wish to communicate at this point is that anyone can do it if they rally wish to.
In the next information I intend to discuss preparation. By that I imply considering what it is you hope to accomplish and how you mean to set about attaining it. You are not going to learn Spanish over night and I think it makes good sense to prepare yourself for the obstacles ahead. Learning a new language need to be fun and there is no reason why it shouldn't be as long as you recognize your constraints.
By no methods do I consider myself to be someone that has a natural flare for languages. When I went to school (all those years ago!) the only subject I failed in was French. For some reason I just couldn't get my head around it. Prior to I began learning Spanish I knew nothing of other languages. I began right from the start. I guess exactly what I'm trying to say is, is that if I can do it then believe me anybody can. Test the Visual Link Spanish for free.
