It can be very tempting to try to text your ex boyfriend to get him back. Should you text him? What should you say? Is he waiting for you to contact him? Is he with someone else? What should you do? Do you dare to try to text your boyfriend and test the waters?
The desire to text your ex boyfriend can be overwhelming at times. Your phone is always handy and at times it almost calls to you begging you to send him a message. You feel as if you're going to explode. Maybe you have even written him a simple text and wondered if it's the right thing to say and then deleted the message. Maybe you've even sent him a message and either you didn't get a response back or the conversation ended as quickly as it began. You feel compelled to try again but you're just not sure. The continued rejection is probably more than you can handle right now but you feel like you'll die if you don't try.
The truth is that texting your ex boyfriend if you're just not sure probably isn't a good idea. In cases like this it is often better to do nothing than to do something that is going to further alienate your boyfriend. If your ex isn't open to communicating with you then any attempt on your part to open up the lines of communication is going to push him further away.
Think of it this way. Have you ever had a friend that just annoyed you? You might not exactly hate this person but they're not one of your favorite friends even though they like you very much. They might even like you more than you're comfortable with. You don't know exactly why you feel this way but any time you get a call from them or a text message you have this feeling of dread that overcomes you. You might try to be polite but your well meaning friend who hopes to cement a more meaningful bond with you is only pushing you further away. Does this sound familiar?
Until your ex boyfriend is ready to talk with you and communicate with you, your text messages are falling on dead ears, so to speak. You might be satisfying some sort of selfish impulse to get him back but it's not going to help your cause. You're going to have to be a little more clever and you're going to have to lay the foundation of the relationship all over again before you get to enjoy the fun stuff like flirty text messages and those wonderful surprise messages from him again. Before you can comfortably start texting him randomly during the day he needs to want to hear from you. How will you know when the time is right?
Once he starts communicating with you again and once he has his sense of humor back then it will be cool to text him. Until then you're only going to make things worse. Put your phone away or even turn it off or take the battery out of it to avoid that temptation to send him a quick message asking how he's doing or even saying hello. Do something to occupy your mind and distract yourself from that urge to text him. Watch a movie, go for a walk, read a book, look at crazy cat videos on the internet if you have to. Whatever you do, put off sending that impulse text message that you'll wind up regretting in the long run.
