How would you power flush a heating system correctly?
Prior to starting a power flush it is a wise decision to take a analysis of the mains water to check precisely how nice and clean the site water is. You then start connecting your power flush up to the system and fully open all radiator valves. The next task is to add the right dose of chemicals into your pump and circulate them for 30 minutes or so at 50 degrees, because chemicals react better when they are heated.
When you're finished this you will then need to go around closing all radiator valves apart from one. You then flush this radiator for about 15-20 minutes swapping the direction of flow every once in awhile to disturb the more persistent of blockages, when the Fifteen To Twenty min's comes to an end you then begin the process of dumping the unclean water out and replace it with clean water then test it using the TDS reader to find out if its fresh enough to move ahead and then when it is secure the water inside that radiator. This process needs to be repeated over and over until you have flushed every single radiator.
Once you've done that properly it is time for what is referred to as the final flush, all that this is, is you open up each radiator completely and then flush every one of them with each other and then dump the dirt. When you've got the water nice and clean based on the chemicals used you may have to use neutralizing crystals. You simply do this by putting the right dosage into the pump and circulate them for 10 minutes, then you will have to test the water with a PH meter and if it’s at an okay level you will then dump the water and then put some inhibitor in to keep the system guarded.
Now your at the last part of your power flush all that is left is to connect all the system together again and start it up. The majority of the time you will have to go around to bleed the radiators this is to push out trapped air . If some radiators are still cold after the boiler has been operating for some time you might have to balance the system. To achieve this you need to locate the radiators pumping out loads of heat and turn them down this will allow an improved flow to the colder radiators and in theory heating them up.
