Many people have issues with their front door. Unless the function or security is completely jeopardised by these issues then usually the door is not replaced. These doors will often get some diy attention or are just put up with. Why? Probably because most people believe that, unless they spend a small fortune, a new door would just eventually end up posing the same or similar issues.

What causes these problems to occur so often? Flaws in the design of the door is usually where they begin. Not enough thought is put in to the finer details, such as additional protection or hardware, leaving the door vulnerable to any potential issues. The singular materials used for the bulk of most doors fall short in some way; uPVC doors lack thermal qualities and wooden doors weather easily.

Although uPVC doors are cheap, they look and feel cheap. Far more sturdy and attractive, wooden doors are often too expensive for most budgets.

In addition to the expense, wooden doors require a high level of maintenance. To keep their looks and slow the inevitability of rotting, they need sanding and painting or varnishing every few years sometimes more often if the door is in full sun, windy seaside conditions or other situations where the door is exposed to severe weather on a regular basis.

uPVC doors require less maintenance, only ever needing a wipe down when they appear dirty in addition to the yearly oil that all doors require, but they have a considerably shorter longevity and will fade and discolour overtime.
Recently, a new addition came onto the market in the form of composite doors. These new doors are incredibly well designed, with every aspect being considered and thought over. This careful planning resulted in a near perfect door which eliminates virtually all of the common problems found in other doors. Because these doors are created using a composition of materials, the qualities of each singular material can be combined to give you the best of every world; weaknesses can be reinforced with materials that have strengths in those areas.

Composite doors have 6 times the level of insulation than wooden doors. This is due to the door being injected with a thermal foam core. Draughts are prevented from occurring by the glass reinforced plastic skin, which stops the door from bending or warping and creating gaps.

These modern doors provide the greatest level of security the skin does not dent or crack when attacked as the door can take a much higher level of attack than other doors. In addition to the door itself, the composite doors have better security thanks to the high standard quality of hardware the doors are provided with. If you need more security, you can easily upgrade the hardware provided with your door. The combination of strength and secure hardware offer the best protection to your home from a wide range of attacks.

Not only is the door of a higher quality, but the cost of the door is far more affordable than it s wooden counterpart and only set to get cheaper as it becomes more popular. In comparison to uPVC doors, composite doors are much more attractive; coming in a range of colours with a wood grain style finish. Equally easy to maintain, the doors only require a wipe down when they get dirty, but will not fade or discolour over time.
