There are toxic cleaning products that are purchased to clean and maintain a home, which can be replaced by green cleaning products instead. These eco friendly products will protect families, as well as the environment. Many common commercial cleaning products contain chemicals that are harmful for you and for the environment. There are a lot of environmentally friendly cleaning products now that it is becoming easy to clean green. From laundry detergent to paper towels, you can choose green cleaning supplies that get the job done without harmful impact on our ecosystem. Even though maintaining the cleanliness of the home may not be easy, using these tips for cleaning the home will make living green easier.

Window cleaning product manufacturers are not required to list specific ingredients on the label look for labeling that tells what not an ingredient is. No labels for ammonia, petrochemicals and chlorine are a good sign that the window cleaner will not be harmful to health or the environment. Buy the concentrated form of the cleaner, if possible, and keep the original packaging in case there is an accident in using where first aid attention is required.

Avoid bathroom cleaners that contain ammonia or glycol ethers, which most conventional bathroom cleaners have. These ingredients dissolve with the steam of a warm shower creating irritating and potentially dangerous vapors. Make your own green cleaning solution by dissolving ½ cup borax with one gallon of hot water, and for smaller jobs, use 1/8 cup borax and one quart of hot water. Look carefully on the detergent, fabric softener, and bleach to be used in the laundry room. There are many chemical ingredients that are harmful so this is where green cleaning products comes. Search green detergent to the web browser and choose the brand that will work for you.

Remove any harmful chemical cleaning products to a household hazardous materials facility. Getting these products out of your home will help you avoid the temptation of using them. Trade your usual brand of paper towels with those made of recycled materials and use reusable sponges and towels instead. Keep in mind that sponges and towels require water to be cleaned. Collect microfiber cloths which can clean and polish a lot of things, often without additional water or cleaners. To clean your microfiber cloths, launder them separate from other fabrics, and never add fabric softener as it may destroy the microfiber properties of the cloth.

You can use white vinegar and water for cleaning. Inexpensive, non polluting, white vinegar can be used to clean surfaces effectively but avoid using it on natural stone or marble. Another cheap green cleaner is baking soda which freshen fabrics and can be used on most surfaces that don t mind an alkaline cleaner. Schedule for more frequent sweeping, dusting and vacuuming, as cleaning this way more frequently will reduce how often you must clean with water and cleaners. Lastly, purchase biodegradable, phosphate free laundry detergent and household cleaners, and those sold in recycled packaging.
