Every woman ( and now even men) would love to have a few days to relax at a day spa. At a spa, you can get your hair done as well as a manicure or pedicure. But the one thing that most people love to go to spas for is the massage therapy.
I remember when my parents took my little brother and I to Disney World. I was allowed to bring along one of my friends, and I can remember staying at the Grand Floridian resort with my parents. The resort happened to be known at the time for the incredible spa treatments that it afforded its guests. Well, I knew this before we had even stepped foot on the plane, and I was so excited as my best friend and I chatted about the types of massages that we would get after our long, strenuous day filled with walking around theme parks and taking pictures with Disney characters. We got back to the hotel one night, and my mother and father had arranged to spend a few hours at the spa in the hotel getting massages. It turned out that my best friend and I weren t old enough to get a massage. We were devastated. Who knew that there was an age restriction on being able to get a massage?
Today, with all of the stresses that people create for themselves in their day to day lives, is it any wonder that spas are doing so well? There are all sorts of different spa treatments as well, and it certainly makes the perfect stocking stuffer for the holidays. This past year, my brother was trying to figure out a gift for his girlfriend when both my mother and I suggested a day at the spa. It turns out that it was the perfect gift idea; she loved it. The only negative thing about spa treatments is that it is usually not that cheap. For you to find a licensed massage therapist to work out the kinks in your back using a particular technique, it can easily cost upwards of $80 for just one hour long session. And depending on where you go and how long you are there for, you can most certainly plan on spending at least a couple hundred dollars. But is it worth it? Personally, I have never had a spa treatment where you get a relaxing massage. However, I have had friends who have gone forward and treated themselves to a massage at a day spa and have loved every second of it.
If you are trying to save money and have a spouse, boyfriend or girlfriend, why not suggest having a massage done at home? Even something as simple as rubbing your feet can work wonders for washing stress away. Other suggestions include running some hot bathwater with Epsom salts or your favorite fragrant bath wash while lighting some candles and playing some relaxing music. You will probably find that the effect is just the same as it would have been if you had gone to a day spa. Be creative and think of new ways to de stress and relax. You may just find yourself saving hundreds of dollars.
