Moving to another country can be really difficult, and to make things worse moving to one where you may not speak the language and be in a totally different environment. Taiwan is like this for many people. Teaching in Taiwan means you may face a lifestyle that you aren t used to. To make things worse, there are some schools in Taiwan with terrible reputations and working for them would most likely turn you completely off from ever wanting to teach in Taiwan again. However, finding the worst English teaching schools in Taiwan isn t easy. There isn t a lot of honest information available about which schools are good or bad. There is also the problem that someone s experience at a school might be completely different from another persons experience, and as such their opinion of the school will vary greatly. Just how can you find out if a school is good or bad?

If you ve been accepted to work or thinking of working in Taiwan, be sure to Google the name of the school or schools you want to work at. If there is any information about the school, it is bound to show up with a simple search. You ll probably find posts about the schools in forums and other websites online. Read as much as you can and remember to take everything you read with a grain of salt. A school may not be as bad as someone makes it out to be. So be sure to read as much as you can to try and gauge the reputation of a school. The problem here is that many English cram schools in Taiwan are small and you may not be able to find any information about them on forums or other websites. If this is the case then another way to see how good a school is, is to ask for the contact details of previous teachers.

Simply contact the school and ask if you can obtain the contact details of past teachers who no longer work at the school. A simple email is enough, but you may want to try to see if they will give out their phone number if you d prefer to talk to them. Once you have their details, just email them and let them know that you are thinking of or will be working at the school and you d like to know their opinion of the school. It is best to get the details of a few past teachers if possible and also make sure that they no longer work at the school. It is unlikely someone will tell you anything negative about a current employer, as they may turn up the next day to find out they have lost their job due to something they told you.

Finding the worst English schools in Taiwan can be difficult. The problem is that everyone has their own opinion and one school may be terrible to one teacher but excellent for another. The only way to overcome this is to try and do as much background research as you possibly can. Check on the internet for the school s name and any websites using that word, and also ask the school directly if you can get the email or phone number of past teachers. Asking a past teacher is probably one of the best ways to find out what a school really is like.
