Whether you going to Miami for Spring Break or somewhere else in Florida and are going for a vacation rental, there are some things you should know, as well as proper etiquette for renting these homes, villas, or even apartments. The first things that many rentals are going to require well in advance of your arrival are deposits. One of these is of course to make sure that the rental is saved just for you, and the other one is a cleaning deposit. Cleaning deposits usually run at least $200, and if you ever plan on getting this deposit back, there are some things that you should be doing.

For one thing, you really need to treat this rental just like you would your own home. Clean up after yourself; don t leave a mess around, even if you have paid extra for a maid service. Make sure that you are considerate of others who may be staying or living close by. This means that you shouldn t be loud and obnoxious to your neighbors, or have any loud parties. If you do decide to have a party, one of the things you can do is go to the neighbors, and just let them know that you are having a party on a particular night, and ask them to come and let you know it you are being too loud, rather than calling the police.

If you are renting in or around the Miami area, take your party somewhere else. There are plenty of nightclubs and other hot spots to go, so and you can be loud and have a good time there instead. Be extremely quiet upon your return, and be courteous to those living around you who may have to get up for work the next morning.

Many rentals are pet friendly, and sometimes it is a good idea to bring a pet along too. They need to get away just as much as you do, but there are some things to consider when bringing your family friend with you. You wouldn t let them go to the bathroom in the house at home, don t do it at a rental. Make sure that if you have a dog that likes to dig, that you leave this pet at home. Clean up after them, just like you would at home, picking up their feces, immediately taking care of any accidents that may occur, whether they throw up, or whatever.

A vacation rental also has a completely equipped kitchen area, and you need to treat this space just like at home. You need to clean up your mess here, make sure there are no spills in the refrigerator, or stove. If there is an outdoor grill, keep this clean after you use it. In some cases, these units are actually someone s real house, and they are gone for the time that you are renting, so treat it as such. You wouldn t want someone coming into your house while you re away trashing it, so you don t. Do a walk through before you leave and make sure it is as it was when you arrived.
