Tony Horton’s P90X has long been hailed as ‘the’ fitness program for people who are looking for an intense and effective way to get back in shape. The P90X is the result of Tony Horton’s personal experience helping several movie stars, so you can be sure that you are getting routines that have been tried and tested by the man himself and they will get you in shape fast. This product is a complete fitness system that includes several other tolls besides the 12 workout routine DVDs. You also get a fitness calendar with which you can track your progress, a fitness guide that has all the information that you will need on the various supplements and health drinks available in the market and how they help; and you will get a diet plan which was specially designed to maximize the results achieved from the P90X workout regimen
Shaun T’s Hip Hop abs abdominal routine is another program in the fitness market which has been accepted with open arms. His latest offering to his clients is the Insanity program which is an exercise routine that targets the entire body. The program consists of sets of DVD that give a new meaning to exercise regimens. When you opt for the insanity program you get all of Shaun’s expertise and knowledge and you get a good work out session that gives you good results in the midriff area so you will get hot abs but the program only marginally targets the other muscle groups, so if you are looking for a program that can give you complete body workout you may not enjoy Hip Hop abs.
So is Shaun T’s Insanity Workout better than P90X?
The P90X uses a technique knows as muscle confusion which has been developed by Tony Horton. On the others hand, Insanity uses Shaun T’s Max interval training technique. In the muscle confusion technique several exercises are used to target a specific area of the body or muscle group. The several exercises eliminate the plateau effect that comes into the picture when the same exercise is done regularly and the muscles get used to the routine which in turn stops their growth. When you use muscle confusion, as the name suggests, different exercises are used to focus on the same muscle group challenging them constantly.
In the Max Interval workout you are going to bring out 90 intensity while only 10 of the workout time will be spent in warming down. Normally, we do things just the other way round, for example when we go for a jog we will get a moderate workout for 90 of the time when we jog and we may pack some intensity into the routine by sprinting for the last 10 of the time to maximize at the very end of the session. But Shaun goes for the exact opposite, instead of spending 90 in moderate workout you get high intensity exercises while only 10 of the time is used to warm down
The two regimens follow different concepts to fitness and the results achieved can also be quite different. While the P90X is a more intense routine that concentrates on over all fitness and muscle definition through out the body, the Hip Hop abs is targeted program that does help you to lose weight but the exercises are designed to give you good abs. The P90 has years of customer satisfaction backing it however, the Insanity routine is fairly new and ha yet to be tried and tested. The Insanity is a 60 day regimen while the P90X goes on for 90 days. But if fitness experts are to be believed, 90 days is a more realistic goal that helps your body achieve the advertised results. However, The P90X program is one of the most intense programs in the market and it may not be suitable for everybody.
So even though there is no denying the fact that Shaun T’s Insanity is a good program that can give you targeted results, the P90X system is quite simply better and more effective.
