Teeth bleaching process has been around for a long time but only few of those people who heard the term had actually tested the procedure. Actually a tooth bleaching is slightly different from teeth whitening. The latter being the process of just merely cleaning the teeth surface from dirt and stains to reinstate its natural luster or color while the former is the thorough cleansing of teeth with the aid of bleaching materials . It is not only involving teeth surface but bleaching penetrates beneath the enamel, to a tooth layer called dentin. But despite of the bleach seeping into the inside of the tooth, it does not destroy the tooth enamel just like other people think it is.

Why Bleaching

We all know that brushing with fluoride toothpaste alone cannot make our teeth totally white because ordinary toothpastes don t have the ability to penetrate deep into teeth s next layer, wherein dirt and stubborn stains or discolour have been deposited over time. Ordinary brushing can already be considered as teeth whitening because all toothpaste contain whiteners that clears the teeth surface of any visible dirt and stains. Bleaching on the other hand works deeper into the next tooth level.

Without us knowing, dirt and other minute food debris from our everyday foods can accumulate in our teeth and can seep pas through our enamel down to the next tooth layer called dentin no matter how we brush. There were very small particles that can manage to pass through the enamel that will settle down into the next layer. Because our enamel is semi transparent in nature, the accumulated discoloring factors in our teeth looks like they were at the surface of the teeth only but when we brush, the stains were still there. What we need now is teeth bleaching because ordinary tooth brushing to whiten our teeth would not work now at this time.

Bleaching Ingredients and their Effects

All tooth bleach carry within themselves a common ingredient or two. The most common of the elements found on bleaches were:

• Hydrogen peroxide. It is a very common antiseptic used in most mouthwashes as well as toothpastes in killing bacteria. It is a very helpful element in teeth bleaching because it helps clean the teeth from accumulated dirt.

• Carbamide peroxide. This ingredient is an essential whitening agent that is really needed in teeth bleaching. It is a diluted version of hydrogen peroxide though that can usually be found on take home whitening kits.

Regardless of the effectiveness of these teeth bleaching ingredients, its effect can never be perpetual and thus it requires routine touch ups as well as continuous expert dental maneuvers. Before you consider having either thorough teeth whitening or teeth bleaching procedures, be sure to consult an expert first or better yet your trusted dentist. Damage to teeth can be very annoying. Don t let this displeasure happen to you. Before it’s too late, consult your dentist to correct your oral health problem because having problem in your teeth is not good.
