For a long time, people used to put down buying a used car. I used to be one of those people. This was also what has now, ultimately, put me in a less than desirable situation. Like so many other people, I used to think that owning a used car was beneath me. After all, how would the car ever truly be yours if you were just getting someone else s leftovers? There was also the fact that whenever I sat in a used car at a dealership, it always had that smell of someone else. I found it to be incredibly irritating!
I finally decided to purchase a brand new car a sport utility vehicle (among other things), and I thought that I was happy with my choice. After all, all I could think about was taking my new SUV off roading in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and transporting myself and my friends in style. Big mistake! No sooner had I driven off of the lot, I began to have issues with my new found vehicle. I had bought my car in the beginning of the summer, and already, the air conditioning wasn t working. Within a week of purchasing the car, I immediately brought it back to the dealership to have the air conditioning issue fixed. The explanation that the dealership gave me for the air conditioning not working was something along the lines of it having to do with the vehicle sitting in the parking lot in the sun. Stupidly, I bought the excuse because I refused to believe that I had made a mistake in purchasing my new car.
Only a few weeks later, I brought my Jeep back to the dealership again because the air conditioning was still not working. By this point, it was really hot outside, so the fact that the air conditioning wasn t working properly was really starting to irritate me. Since owning my Jeep, these problems have spilled over into other things. From having all of my tires replaced to having each of the windows fixed approximately four times not to mention having my battery replaced and the heat not working, it seems that my choice to purchase this vehicle has really been a never ending nightmare. In retrospect, there are some people who stay away from purchasing a used car because they are afraid of all of the problems that they will have to encounter upon owning one. However, the fact of the matter is that you have to be smart in your choice of vehicle. Look at all of the problems that I have had with my vehicle and it was brand new when I purchased it!
Whenever you purchase a car, whether new or used, you are taking a chance. With used vehicles, more and more people are now starting to turn towards buying a used car because of the quality as well as the affordability that can be found with such a purchase. Check the car fax report at the dealership, and see what sorts of warranties or other incentives the dealer is willing to offer you.
