Are you the type of person who wins or loses most of the situations that you are involved in? If you feel that you have lost more times than you would have liked in the last year, you need to ask yourself how many times you did everything within your power to win. Most probably, you rarely do everything that you can to maximize your chances of success in the situations then you find yourself in. If that is the case, then you only have yourself to blame for not seeing the success that you desire.
So, what is the biggest thing that is currently holding you back from going all out and playing to win? Your answer is most likely the same as the answer given by the vast majority of people, or at least a variation on it, which is fear of failure. Ask yourself How many times in your life have you bailed out of a situation, or sat back and been a spectator, just because failure was an unbearable option?
This fear is literally stealing opportunities from you. Opportunities will always continue to present themselves, but whilst you keep on holding back, you will never be able to fully seize them. Even a slight fear of failure is sufficient enough, as not giving everything you have puts you at a serious disadvantage.
Your fortune is sealed the moment that you submit to your fear of failure. By not even trying, how can you ever hope to win? The thing is, by getting involved, you nearly always have a chance of winning, even if it is a small one. You might be the underdog, but how many times have you seen the underdog beat the favorite before? Life is unpredictable, and the underdogs regularly have their days.
The often cited phrase Aim for the moon, at least if you miss you will be among the stars is more than just a cliche. Keep it mind always, because there is a lot of truth in it. By chasing the big opportunities that arise, you will be pushing yourself to be the best that you can possibly can be, and by doing that you will be in a better position in failing than you would in if you had done nothing at all. You might not always get exactly what you were aiming for, but the second and third prizes are often worthwhile.
Your self confidence will improve by following this approach and so will the confidence that others have you in, as they will see you as being someone with a positive, can do attitude, which is the type of attitude that others like to be around, and like to believe in. Whilst you should not be overly concerned with what others think of you, it is not something to be ignored either. By having support from others, you will have people to lean on and give you a boost the next time that you are aiming for the moon, and that little extra could be just what you need to see you get there.
