I do not really know the reason why but as drivers we need to be more serious about it because that can be the difference between saving a life or taking it.

With a cautious driving course you can actually save the life of a person who would have died if you had not gone for the defensive driving course. But with that added knowledge you can save a life or two when everyone was obviously going to die.

So when you have a course in cautious driving you stand to benefit a lot. A course of this nature actually lowers the monthly or yearly premiums you would have been paying if you did not have one. This course is an indication that you are less likely to be involved in an accident than a person who does not have one.

Believe it or not but in addition to this the traffic department can actually withdraw a court case on the basis that there is no way you would have caused the accident.
