Have you ever imagined yourself being asked to create your own solar panels? This article will try to help you make one. Solar panels, at first glance, look very complicated, but actually, making them is so simple. The solar panel is a device that converts solar energy into electrical energy. A typical commercial solar panel is made from silicon.

In order to create your own solar panels you will need the following materials and tools. First you have to secure about 36 square inch of copper flashing. You will use copper instead of silicon for your solar cells. A 1000 watts electric stove, a large mouth glass jar, one cup of table salt, tap water are also needed. As for the tools, you will use a sheet metal shears, sand papers, wires and two alligator clips. A multi-meter will be very useful in regulating and monitoring the electrical output.

The first step is to clean the copper sheet thoroughly. Make sure that it is free from grease and oil. You may use sand paper for this. Then put it on top of the electric stove. Turn on the stove to High. As the copper heats up, you will notice some transformations and changing of colors. After about half an hour, turn off the stove and let the copper sheet cool down to room temperature. When it is already cold, then you have to clean the copper sheet again.

Create your own solar panels by combining a number of solar cells. You will need your burned copper sheet for this. Cut another copper sheet about the same size of the burned copper. Get your glass jar. Bend the two copper sheets and insert them inside the jar. Do it carefully making sure that they do not touch one another. Attach the alligator clips to each copper plate. The alligator clip attached to the clean copper plate must be connected to the positive terminal of your multi-tester. The other clip must be connected to the burned copper plate.

The next step is to prepare a salt solution. Mix the salt to tap water. Stir thoroughly until all the salt dissolves into the water. Pour the water into the jar. The salt solution must not cover the plates completely so that you can make adjustments later on when touching the water.

The complete set up is now ready to use. You now have a solar battery. If you can duplicate this setup and connect the wires in parallel, then you will have greater energy. This solar energy will be enough to light a single dwelling house. You may also put these solar panels on the roof for maximum exposure.

What are you waiting for? Create your own solar panels now.
