Extreme conditions of unfavorable weather and unsuitable global temperatures can adversely affect and degrade the materials utilized for the construction of buildings. It can cause serious problems for the residents and owners of the buildings as the solutions to these inefficient weather situations is very costly and might exceed the budget of the investor. The foremost thing to study before discussing the adverse effects of weather on building materials are the different types of weather and the problems related to each one.

Various types of unfavorable weather hazards are discussed below:

* A salt splash can cause severe damage to electrical plants by shorting their current wiring.
* On the other hand a tidal surge is another type of weather hazard which can cause adverse effects on sea walls and bridges by destroying them.
* Hurricanes are the most devastating forms of hazard relating wind and rain. They not only destroy the synthetic materials of buildings but also damage its occupants.
* Lastly blizzard involves sever snow storm which blinds the whole scenario with its severe pressure which is exerted upon the buildings in its surrounding areas. This pressure can result in cracks hence, demolishing the entire structure.

Hence, the designing of buildings should be processed in such a way that it minimizes the damage and maintains maximum protection. A building structure with a roof of glass can ensure weather protection thus allowing the passage of heat through solar energy. But as severe weather crisis arises, glass can be the weakest synthetic material to show resistance against it. Even the glass used in the windows of certain structures can be very dangerous in such conditions as the broken pieces when blown into the air can cause severe injuries to people.

During building construction, it is crucial to consider weather conditions when storing building materials. Hurricanes, tornadoes and other natural disasters cannot be overcome unless precautionary measures are not adopted in a well planned way. Maximum protection can be achieved from all types of weather by using hybrid materials that strike a balance between energy efficiency and protection from weather.
