I love refrigerator magnet! For as long as I can remember, all of the women in my family have used them to keep track of things. Even my great-grandmother had custom fridge magnets on her old Frigidaire. Sometimes they were just blank, washer shaped rings that held notes or drawings that some of us had done, and other times they were promotional items from businesses all over town, but the always fascinated me
Before I had much use for reading, we used to take the custom fridge magnets and throw them at things to see if we could make them stick. If you hit the refrigerator just right, you could get a magnet to stick outright. We discovered that throwing them at windows and glasses didn't work at all, and we never could get them to stick to wooden or sheet rocked walls. Wondering at this, we asked the responsible adults in our family and found out the principles of magnetism only applied to certain metals, of which most refrigerators were at least partially composed.
Fast forward thirty years, and I ended up belonging to an organization that had meetings twice monthly, on the first and third Tuesday of every month. We were having problems with activity, and so the leader of the group that year had twelve-month calendar style custom fridge magnets sent to all of the members, with the days of our regular meetings circled in red. That way, if anyone needed to see when the next meeting was, all they had to do was go to their refrigerator and they could sort it out.
To me, one of the big benefits of refrigerator based advertising magnets is that most people go to the refrigerator at least once a day, and when they do, they can't help but see the magnet. Even if it is disregarded, I believe that on a subliminal level, the message on that magnet plays into your mind, kind of like a song you hear in the background all the time and suddenly find yourself knowing all of the words. Even just a flash look at that magnet puts those words in your mind. In thinking just now, I can still remember several of the magnets that were on our refrigerator over the years, even though I haven't seen some of them for quite some time.
So, if you are looking for something to give your business or organization and nice push, consider the magic of custom refrigerator magnets. They stick with you for a long time!
