Although both has the word "optimization" at the end, there are still many differences between search engine optimization and an on-site optimization. Unfortunately, many people, even those who belong in the web companies, are still pretty much confused about the differences and similarities of the two.

First of all, if you want to get hundreds or even thousands of visitors on your website, on a daily basis, it is important that you focus on optimizing your website first rather than paying more attention to the site rankings that you will have on search engines especially in Google. As long as you do not give what the visitors are looking for in a website, then it is likely that they would leave immediately and look for another site instead.

Aside from that, when it comes to on-site optimization there is no such thing as cheats, tricks, or re-programming the website and turn it into your disadvantage. If you see advertisements about companies claiming that they would facilitate your website to be search engine optimized, do not fall for such traps. In the long run, you would realize that it is bringing more harm than good to your website.

The operation cost of search engine optimization is way more expensive if you would compare it to the amount that you have to pay for on-site optimization. The experts in this field strongly agree that it would only take less than 10 percent of your budget to have an optimized website. As a result, the return of investment would be greater compared to what you would have if you opt for search engine optimization instead.

Another difference between the search engine optimization and website optimization is the effect from the visitors coming from different locations of the World Wide Web. If the effect of the SEO happens prior to the web surfer's visit to the website, the on-site optimization is the other way around. You can get a result by the time the surfers have already landed on your site. It is actually better if they would stay on your website longer rather than just taking a peek. This simply means that they are interested on the information that you cater and they find it very edifying at the same time.

Remember these differences and always keep in mind that website optimization comes first before search engine optimization. By the time that you have completely optimized your own website, then you may proceed in optimizing it on search engines like Google. Doing it the other way would only result to loss of money, effort, and time.

It just makes sense that you improve your website first so it can give the visitors an online experience that they want and need. On-site optimization would allow you to give your visitors that satisfaction so they would become your persistent viewers.
