Stop smoking products have been on the the market for years. For whatever reason though, you haven't made the decision to quit smoking. You know about the risks involved with your smoking habit, but you just can't see yourself giving up the habit completely. Maybe you haven't fully researched your options and don't realize that there is a reasonable and effective alternative designed to help you kick the nicotine habit. Whether you just started or have been smoking for 25 years, it's always a good decision to quit smoking and get off nicotine.

If you haven't done much research into a “stop smoking program”, then you likely aren't aware that there are ways to effectively help you quit smoking. The two main methods are nicotine patches and nicotine gum. The effectiveness behind these products is probably that they don't force the user to quit immediately, but rather they ween the smoker off of the nicotine that they have become addicted to. Whether you choose the gum or the patch, they are available in different strengths and provide several steps to help you along the way to quit smoking. It is way easier to quit smoking now than it was when your parents might have started.

Before starting a program, it's important to first consult a doctor to see if the products themselves could possibly be bad for you in particular. If no concerns are established, the next step is choosing the product and strength. If you're a heavy smoker, you would obviously want to start with a higher dosage. Nicotine patches are placed on a part of the body and deliver nicotine to the body through the skin. The patch is replaced every 24 hours. Nicotine gum provides a more controlled approach to the quit smoking program. Gum can be used to help combat the nicotine craving at the leisure of the consumer. Whichever product is chosen, the idea is to help you control the nicotine craving while smoking as little as possible. When followed, along with a certain amount of determination, these products have been shown to be successful in helping people “kick the habit.”

If you aren't sure about the whole idea of quitting, there is another product available that has sometimes been used to quit smoking, but is mainly intended to provide an experience that simulates smoking without people actually lighting up. The e-cigarette, as the product is known, is a device that delivers nicotine to the body without the 4000 or so chemicals that are given off by tobacco smoke. It also gives off vapor, as opposed to smoke, which dissipates quickly and minimizes the irritation a smoking experience would have on those around the user. Though it can be a replacement for cigarettes, the best decision any smoker could make is the obvious one to quit.
