Are you finding that you are getting ready for a move? This could be a move from your home to maybe the college across town or in the next state. You might just be moving out on your own. If you are doing this for the first time it might seem scary. Moving for any reason is not fun but if you do it right it will go a lot easier. One never knows what they have or how much of it they have until you go to pack it up to move. In some ways it might be better to have a professional movers especially if you have a lot of breakable items. These things need to have a lot of special care. They have to be packed just right or during the move you might lose a lot of them.
If you plan on doing this yourself make sure that you have enough people to help. Ask them in advance so that they can be there. You might want to have a party of some kind afterwards for their help. If you have a lot of big things make sure that some of them have heavy duty trucks to haul all of your things. Some of this stuff you might want to haul in your own car. When you move make sure that you leave it like you found it. You will have to clean it up so make sure that the power is left on until you do this. When you know that you are going to be moving it is important to have everything move with you.
You will need to start calling your utility companies and inform them of the move. You will then give them the address so that they can switch these utilities on the day you want them moved from your old place to your new. You will need to do this with your utilities, mailing address, phone service, cable or satellite service and then your drivers license. If you want them to be done as soon as you think you will need them like on the day you plan to move in it would be best to do so as soon as you have all of the information. In most cases it is best to have all of this done a week before you move in. Just make sure that you have enough time to completely clean the place you are leaving.
If you plan on giving your friends some food and a small party after you are done you might want to make sure that you have the time and can find all of your things first. If you move until late and everyone is to tired it might be a good idea to tell them thank-you and also tell them that you will have a get together will them on that first week-end after the move. This way you all will be able to sit and really enjoy each others company. It will also give you the time needed to find all of your things. So remember when moving to do it right and safe.
