Perhaps one of the most common questions that every person has on an ongoing basis is, "What will the weather be like tomorrow". This question is so common that every newscast has a special piece of it dedicated to the weather and forecasting what the weather will be like in the days ahead.
In the quest to forecast and record weather, there are a lot of tools that are used. One of those tools that is used is called a thermocouple. The thermocouple is the temperature sensor. In a more technical sense, it is a junction between two metals that produced a voltage relative to the difference in temperature. It is a common part found in all temperature detecting devices.
We as a society often tease about how the weatherman is often wrong. The truth is, predicting the weather is a tricky business and things can change quickly that will change the prediction of the weatherman.
Predicting and recording weather is a serious business and it is taken seriously by those who are involved in the industry. There are many people who are involved in the weather industry that you never see on the ten o'clock news. Many of them are scientist who are always experimenting with new gadgets and instruments to measure things like wind speed, barometric pressure and other things that indicate something about the current weather and incoming weather.
Some of these people are those who seek to find out more about severe weather so that they can come up with ways to better predict it and give those in its path more warning to get out of the way. Some of these people include tornado chasers. These people were really made famous by the movie, "Twister", staring Helen Hunt. This movie brought to light for many people how serious some weather people can be about what they are doing.
There are many reasons to know what the weather will be like. So many events that we plan are outside. Understanding what the weather will be like helps us to know what to plan for and if we need to adjust are plans. It also helps us to know when to plant crops, when to plan extra time for travel and when to get out the snow shovel.
Understanding what the expected temperature is for the following day also helps us know what kind of clothes to wear. These things are all related to the weather.
