The term 'corner bathroom suite' usually refers to the bath itself, although as it's possible to get corner showers, basins and lavatories, it pays to be precise when searching for your bathroom furniture online.
Some consider corner baths to be space savers and others think of them as space fillers in a large bathroom. Whatever the reason for buying a corner bathroom suite they look great don't they. Everybody that has ever been in a bathroom with a corner suite is wowed by the grandeur of it.
Corner bathroom suites may look the business but they do have some downsides which it is worth considering before purchasing. Standard size corner baths by design will not allow you to stretch out as you would in a conventional bath, so the decision has to be made do I want design over the long relaxing bath.
The second problem, and a potentially very costly one, is the volume of water it takes to fill a corner bath. A standard bath, when filled, holds approximately 155 litres of water, whereas a typical 1400 x 1400mm corner bath holds a staggering 210 litres. Not only will it cost you more to heat the extra water volume, you need to ensure that your water heating system is actually up to it!
A popular choice instead of the standard corner bath is the offset corner bath. The offset bath fits into the corner but has one side that is longer, these come in both right and left hand designs to fit all bathrooms, so what ever you do make sure you know which is needed before purchase!
Because of the longer side, you will be able to lie down in an offset corner bath - and what's the point of a long hot soak if you can't lie down? Additionally, a typical 1500 x 1000mm model will use only 180 litres of water, so not an awful lot more than a standard bath.
If you do decide on the corner bath suite and lets face it they just look great when installed, you will need to consider whether it needs to be offset. The corner bath panel is not a universal, they are designed to fit only the one model of bath so although you will not need it straight away I would always advise buying an additional facia panel and hiding it in the loft, there will I am sure become a day when the plastic or wood gets a know and cracks it. These baths after a few years can sometimes get replaced and updated so can be hard to come by new panels for your corner suite.
There is little doubt that corner bathroom suites look good - but, as the old homily goes, forewarned is forearmed.
