Customized murals can add a personal touch to any wall of your choosing in your home. No room is off limits. Bedrooms, dining rooms, children’s bedroom and bathroom can be enhanced with these unique and personal designs. The companies that create these murals can use any media to make your mural from. Any piece of artwork, photograph, drawing or computer graphic file, can be turned into a magnificent masterpiece for your wall. You can request a sample of the completed mural to see if it will coordinate with your room before installation.

Children’s rooms are ideal for murals. There are so many genres to choose from to make their room more delightful, cheery and fun. Choosing a theme can be half the fun. Your choices include animals, sports, dance, and storybook characters. If none of these appeal to your child, you can create your own motif. A smaller wall can make installation of the mural easier and it can be a good idea to practice before purchasing more murals.

Measure your walls width and height to determine what size mural you will need. Marking the area with pencil or masking tape will also help with establishing the walls capability of handling the mural. When you get the mural make sure to read all of the instructions. Then follow the instructions carefully. Basically there are four important parts to installing a wall mural. First is prepping the surface of the wall. You want to make sure all dirt, residue and any old wallpaper has been removed. The adhesive has to be mixed properly and they differ with each manufacturer. There is also a correct way to hang the mural starting with the center piece first. After applying the mural, sufficient drying time is needed to complete the installation. The outlined steps are in the manual that comes with the mural kit.

There are some tips that will make installation easier and if you fail to follow the steps it could result in a disaster. Never soak or saturate the paper with the adhesive. You should not fold the mural paper. Keep your panels in the proper order and it is a good idea to spread them on the floor before hanging. The wall where you are placing the mural should always be clean and oil-free. To make the mural appear even, slightly overlap each panel at the seam.

Murals are a wonderful addition to any room and can make small rooms seem larger. Wall murals create an optical illusion that can add a special touch to any room.
