Many farmers used animal feeds that contain phosphates and that contribute for a large part of the phosphates that go into the ecosystem. Everyday use of household detergents and dishwashing detergents contribute significantly also. There are way to many phosphates entering the ecosystem. Because phosphates help soften water used in our washing machines and dishwashers, minerals in the water are blocked and the detergent can do its job. Some minerals can also effect the lather from soap and thus reducing their cleaning power. Limescale build up is reduced in the machines and on dishware that appears as smears and dinginess.
Phosphates that are in detergents have a high alkaline level, which is great for dishwashers. The high alkalinity is an element in sanitizing and/or killing bacteria. Phosphates help with cleaning of the items. It causes the detergent to grip dirt and particles, which stops them from being released in your wash Phosphates increase the cleaning power of detergents because they permit through cleaning in low temperatures. Many cleaning products are becoming green and there are many alternatives. It hasn’t also been that the replacements were positive for the environment. But companies and manufactures are making strides in improving this factor. Some alternatives have been citric acid that is now found in many products as a water softener.
