Aspergers is a part of the Autism Spectrum Disorder group. Aspergers kids will not have signs or symptoms as severe as full Autistic children which is why Aspergers is known as 'high functioning' Autism.

Behavior problems like aggression, anger and depression are reasonably frequent in Aspergers children. The inability to fit in socially is a big reason for these behaviors in Aspergers children and sometimes these behaviors can be incredibly difficult to deal with for the parents of these children.

Aspergers Features

Aspergers doesn't really start to show it's signs or symptoms until around the age of three and lots of children are sometimes not diagnosed until aged five or six and sometimes older. Aspergers tends to be more common in males than it is in females. Not all Aspergers children will show the same signs or symptoms as they can differ a great deal from person to person and in mild cases can be quite difficult to diagnose.

Aspergers children in general are highly intelligent and will sometimes have quite high grades at school, but it is the emotional and social skills that these children lack.

The main features of Aspergers are:

* Very intelligent performing well at school, particularly in topics such as Maths
* Absorb and learn things effortlessly and fast
* Don't cope very well when criticized and in fact will sometimes take criticism as a personal attack
* Are sometimes reserved and will wait to be asked into a group and not take the initiative to join a group
* Because of their shy and withdrawn nature they can sometimes be the victims of harassment
* Are sometimes clumsy
* May show some weird behavior and routines which can make them seem a bit peculiar or eccentric
* Can be extremely emotional and quite sensitive
* Find it tough to understand jokes or sarcasm and can often take a joke as a personal attack
* Like to have specific routines or rituals.

Why Are Many Aspergers Children Angry?

Aspergers children find it enormously tough to interact with other kids and are often quite uncomfortable in social situations. It’s not that they don’t want to be social, it’s just that they lack social skills and find it tough to be social. Because of the need to be accepted and because they want to be social but can't, then they can become quite angry and annoyed. They don't really understand why they aren't being accepted and why they can't intermingle the way that other kids do and sometimes they will just feel like other children just simply dislike them. The more this happens the more withdrawn a child can become and this can lead to them becoming quite a sad little person.

The earlier that your child is diagnosed with Aspergers the earlier you can begin helping them to learn social and communication skills. They can acquire these skills but they just need some extra help. It is also essential to help them to develop a healthy self esteem so that they don’t grow up to believe that they are inferior in any way due to their lack of social skills. By helping them learn social skills and promoting self assurance will help to lessen anger development.

Another reason that anger develops in Aspergers children is if they are a child that prefers to have set routines or rituals and those routines are broken or changed. It is important to let them have their routines as often as possible to avoid an anger outburst though it isn't always possible to keep to routines 100% of the time.

Aspergers children may get quite angry and even voilent over a changed schedule even though this is something that most people wouldn’t really fret too much about. Cognitive behavior counseling might be helpful with routine issues to teach your child to stay in control even when their routines are broken.

Aspergers children can be quite annoyed little people and it is also frustrating for a parent to deal with these issues. Because these children appear perfectly normal it is sometimes easy to overlook that they have a disorder. It is also hard to deal with matters on a day by day basis and it can take it’s toll. An early diagnosis of Asbergers syndrome is important so that you can start to teach your child the skillsets that they need and how to deal with the problems that make them irritated. If your child receives the correct treatment then they can live a very happy and fulfilling life.
