Thai silk comes in great varieties- both light and heavy weight, in plain and printed styles. A very sort after variety of silk is Mudmee, manufactured in the north eastern part of the country. Mudmee is an expensive variety for it takes a lot of time to get manufactured and is worn in special occasions like wedding ceremonies. It comes in ornamental style often designed in silver threads.

Silk is the most popular of Thailand handicrafts and is available not just in Thailand but in countries all over the world. People purchase Thai silk, even those which are available in the local shops testifying to the popularity of Thai silk. Moreover they come in different varieties suiting the interests of almost everyone. Even those who are not interested in using Thai silk for the purpose of clothing can make other uses of it.

Thai silk is used to manufacture carpets, sewing threads and even fishing lines. So if you are enthralled by the beauty of Thai silk you can use it for many purposes apart from clothing. There are many ways of using it for various items. Home accessories like bed sheets, curtains, cushion covers etc made of Thai silk can add flair to every room.
