If you love to drink but hate waking the next morning to a hangover, there may be a way to avoid it. Usually if you drink a lot of alcohol, the next day you suffer from dehydration, nausea and headaches. This combined with not eating before drinking, not drinking enough water, lack of sleep and the volume of alcohol you intake can lead to hangovers. You can always tell when someone has had a great night out because the next day, they don’t look so good. You can avoid taking medication for your symptoms. Hard drinks and cocktails are the beginning of your problems.

Eat a meal before you start a night of drinking and while you are drinking alcohol. If you get a hangover, try to eat food with lots of sugar or fructose and starches. Water also flushes the body quickly and removes toxins. It keeps you hydrated and refreshed the body. Fruit juices can also help with hydration. They also contain fructose. Coffee is the worst for hangover because it can cause you to become more dehydrated instead of energized. Try to avoid coffee the morning after. Water with lime works well for preventing hangovers and should be enjoyed warm sweetened with honey. It can give the body the energy and nutrition that it is lacking.
Vitamin C is another important nutrients to digest after drinking. Oranges, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and kiwi contain high levels of vitamin C. You can eat the fresh fruit or drink the juice. Ginger has been known to soothe the effects of hangovers. You can chew ginger gum or sip on ginger tea with hints of juice or honey. Peppermint herb can be added to your tea as well. It is also a good stress reliever. A hot bath or cold compress on your head can lessen the pound of a hangover headache.
