To start by working as a 'Professional' Photographer is a new ball game when compared to your previous 'amateur' status. Not least of which is the fact that you, at this point would like more than only a smile from your customers - You now aim to get some of their hard earned cash!
To start charging cash for your work looks like a huge stage, but it will definitely be a sign of a turning point to your profession as a photographer.
Now that you're asking the question of 'how can I set up charging professional fees?’ you obviously believe that it is possible to sell a service that is definitely of value to people - Possibly, even better than what they can achieve for themselves. To pass though this impediment is as much an emotional decision as anything else.
Think of all the time it's going to take you to perform the work for the customers, consider the assurance you are going to be putting in place simply so that you just furnish them the best results and service that you can. Imagine every part of the costs involved, the equipment, the promotional outlay, your time etc. etc. Right now think of all the time and enthusiasm that it has taken to get where you are now!
Think of how your clients will love and appreciate the completed results that you will give them! Picture their faces when you set that final completed order in their hands...I think that, with this in mind, they'd expect you to actually charging them, wouldn't they?...and if you were to, would they want a 'cheap' low priced service, or would they prefer a specialized high value service which may suit you along with them?...Now do you think that you're raring to go to generate a price list for them?...I expect that you are!
For some, the determination to start charging professional fees for their work is just to be making a little extra. For other people its solely so that they can continue having fun and giving extra to the people who will appreciate their hobby. Nonetheless for some, the decision is to construct a fully-fledged and valuable full time career or business.
