If you are taking part in an affiliate scheme that can provide a white label web site, then you might be thinking that there is not much you can do as far as SEO is concerned. But, that is where you are wrong! In reality there are more than a few things you can be doing. And whilst all of these are designed at optimising your website to create more search engine visitors, they should also help generate some natural traffic.
Change meta data
If you are very lucky, then you will find that you might have some control over the meta data behind your white label website. If this is the case, then you can maybe add a suitable title and description onto the page. Be certain that they are applicable to the keywords that you will be optimising the page for, but just select one or two keyword phrases per page. Do not get over excited!
Create your own site
It may be potential, depending on the subject of the website and your skill level, to take a copy of key pages, change the text slightly to avoid it being an exact duplicate and work your SEO magic on the copy. This is the best way forward as you get a page or a website that the search engines do not see as a copy. With this option you then just link from your optimised pages to the necessary checkout pages of the white label website.
This is the best way to go, if potential, but be alert that changing the content of the text on financial sites, and maybe sites in other niches, could put you in contravention of terms and legal authorities!
Write articles
But do not fear if you cannot do either of the above, all is not lost! What the code of the page looks like is only a small percentage of the story these days when optimising a website. What happens off the page is far more vital. And this is the ‘exciting’ side.
What you now need to begin looking at is writing and submitting content. Write round the products or how to use them. Write frequently asked questions lists, how to articles and everything you can think of. Then take these articles and submit them through article sites and guest blogging systems. By carefully choosing where you submit your articles to, not only will you increase the popularity of your site with the search engines, but some readers of the articles will also pop over to your web site as visitors!
Study the results
Then, start watching visitors and your search engine positions. Have a look at what search terms you are doing well with and which terms are in fact sending visitors to your website. This can be tricky with some white label providers, if they do not make available the full information, so again you get a bonus if you can create your own site. But if it is prospective to add a small piece of javascript to your web site, then you can use Google Analytics and other services to track your visitors.
Once you know which search terms are doing well, you can do further work on these terms so that you increase the traffic.
To recap -
* If you can, add a title and description to your site.
* Better still, create a copy of the website and change the text to make it unique.
* Write articles and submit to article directories and blogs
* Watch your site stats to see how traffic are finding you
